As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 140 Hasanpur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Hasanpur and Bithan community development blocks; Kundal I, Kundal II, Shalepur, Jahangirpur and Bishnupur Diha gram panchayats of Singhia CD Block. In the 2010 state assembly elections, Raj Kumar Ray of JD(U) won the Hasanpur seat defeating his nearest rival Sunil Kumar Puspam of RJD. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Sunil Kumar Pushpam of RJD defeated Ram Narayan Mandal of LJP in October 2005 and February 2005. Gajendra Prasad Himansu of JD(U) defeated Rajendra Yadav of RJD in 2000. Sunil Kumar Pushpam of JD defeated Rajendra Prasad Yadav, Independent, in 1995. Gajendra Prasad Himansu of JD defeated Rajendra Prasad Yadav of Congress in 1990. Rajendra Prasad Yadav of Congress defeated Gajendra Prasad Himansu, Independent, in 1985. Gajendra Prasad Himansu of Janata Party (SC) in 1980. Gajendra Prasad Himansu of Janata Dal defeated Satyanarain Yadav of Congress in 1977.[2][3]
